Roller and blanket washes
Remove ink from rollers and blankets. Compare conventional and UV formulations and compatibility with NBR, NBR/PVC and EPDM.
Choose VARN pressroom chemicals for cleaning, dampening and maintaining your offset press. Match the product to your ink, water and roller or blanket material. Compare applications before choosing a wash, fountain concentrate or powder.
You will also find anti-set-off powders from VARN and Russell-Webb. Powders from both brands reduce ink set-off between sheets in the stack.

Start with the task you want to do. Then compare the products in the selected group.
| Your task | Select a group | Most important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Wash the ink off the rollers and blankets | VARN washes | Select the preparation for the ink and elastomer. UV agent does not have to be suitable for all types of rubber. |
| Stabilize dampening during printing | VARN fountain solution concentrates | Include water, dampening system and IPA contribution. Do not select buffer based solely on pH. |
| Remove glaze, calcium or deposits | Cleaning and maintenance | An ordinary wash does not replace an agent for a specific sediment. Chemicals will not repair worn rollers. |
| Prepare water or reduce foam | Auxiliary chemicals | Select the add-on to the cause of the problem. Do not correct several parameters at the same time. |
| Reduce ink set-off in the stack | VARN and Russell-Webb powders | Select the grain and quantity to work with. Powder will not replace proper drying. |
| Develop the plate or clean the plate processor | CtP Chemistry | Developer, processor bath cleaner and care products for finished plates have different purposes. |
Remove ink from rollers and blankets. Compare conventional and UV formulations and compatibility with NBR, NBR/PVC and EPDM.
Select a concentrate for water, ink and dampening system. Check out variants for IPA reduction and calcium control.
Remove deposits, clean the rubber and take care of the plates and dampening circuit. Choose a product for a specific surface.
Prepare water, reduce foam or select the agent for inactive units. Check the application’s purpose and limitations.
Reduce ink set-off in the stack. Select powder for the paper, ink coverage and planned finishing.
Select the chemicals for the plate and device. Separate developing, bath cleaning and plate surface care.
Provide the machine model, type of ink and place of application. For washes, specify the rubber of the rollers and blankets. For buffers, provide water parameters and the current share of IPA.
Not every UV product is compatible with every elastomer. Check the data sheet for the specific variant and your press manual. Calcium removers, ink washes, plate cleaners and dampening system cleaners have different purposes.

The powder separates the sheets in the stack and helps reduce the set-off of fresh ink. Does not replace proper drying of ink. Select the type and grain size for paper, ink coverage and further processing.
| Brand and type | Application | What to include |
|---|---|---|
| VARN Coated | Coated powder; the coating affects the moisture resistance and slippage of the sheets. | Check compatibility with the planned varnishing, gluing and laminating. |
| VARN Uncoated / Regular | Uncoated powder, to be considered for printing and further finishing. | Select the grain size and quantity according to the substrate and powdering device. |
| Russell-Webb – coated and uncoated powders | Separate brand of anti-set-off powders in the Flint Group catalog. | Confirm the specific variant, grain size and compatibility with the processing of the finished print. |
When asking, please provide the paper weight and type, sheet format and planned finishing. Don’t choose grain size based solely on grammage. Ask about the powder and the current technical data sheet.
Check the plate type and plate processor requirements first. A processless plate does not require conventional developer simply because you use CtP.
| Product | When to choose | What to check | Card |
|---|---|---|---|
| VARN HyperGold | Developer and regenerator for indicated thermal positive plates and conventional plates. | Confirm compatibility with current board and device. The name CtP does not cover a single technology. | PDF ENG |
| VARN CtP Plate Processor Bath Cleaner | Cleaning baths of thermal, photopolymer and conventional PS plate developers. | Do not use silver plates in processors. Check the device and rinsing instructions. | PDF ENG |
Are you looking for a milk for the surface of the finished board? You will find CtP Plate Cleaner in the group VARN cleaning and care. This is a different use than cleaning the plate processor bath.
We set the price for a specific preparation, packaging and quantity. When comparing, take into account the working concentration, cleaning method and compatibility with the machine’s materials. A cheaper product will not help if it does not fit the rubber or installation.
Specify the product or problem, machine model and materials used. WIT will confirm the correct variant, packaging, availability and pricing. We set the price for a specific product and quantity.
Compare consumption per wash or the working concentration, rather than the container price alone. Also include cleaning time and compatibility. A cheaper product costs more if it causes repeated washing or damages an elastomer.
No. These products perform different tasks. First identify the contamination or production problem, then check the intended application. A stronger cleaning product cannot replace the correct fountain solution concentrate.
